Meet the Founder of the HLCDr. Olivia M. J. Newby, DNP, FNP-BC, CDCES, FAANP, is a distinguished healthcare professional celebrated for over a decade of contributions to patient well-being and community health initiatives. As a proud HBCU alumnus with a foundation in nursing from Howard University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Old Dominion University, Dr. Newby has excelled as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. As a co-owner of the Healthy Living Center Foundation, she passionately leads initiatives promoting holistic health approaches, focusing on diabetes management and prevention. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Newby is a respected educator and author, contributing to peer-reviewed journals 2022 National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support and Culturally Tailored Group Medical Appointments for Diabetic Black Americans.
Her impactful advocacy extends to her role as the State President of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, where she champions nursing excellence and patient care.
